PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 29, 2026 — Five games into his NBA career, Cameron Boozer is already rewriting the age column of the record book.

The Memphis rookie had 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists in a 124-103 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night, the first triple-double of his career. At 19 years and 103 days old, he became the second-youngest player in NBA history to post one, according to NBA.com. The only younger player was Josh Giddey, who was 19 years and 84 days old when he did it for Oklahoma City against Dallas on Jan. 2, 2022.

The list of qualifiers keeps getting longer. NBA.com noted that Boozer, the No. 3 pick in the 2026 draft and the youngest player in the league, is now the youngest player to record a triple-double in a win and the youngest frontcourt player to do it, passing Victor Wembanyama, who was 20 years and 6 days old when he did it in January 2024. He is also only the fourth player to get a triple-double within his first five games, joining Oscar Robertson, Art Williams and Ben Simmons.

The win pushed Memphis to 5-0, only the second 5-0 start in franchise history after 2014-15, NBA.com reported. The Grizzlies got it with depth as much as with their rookie: seven other players scored in double figures, and Isaiah Stewart led the bench with 18 points, the Associated Press reported.

The game was close until the third quarter, when Memphis turned a 2-point lead into an 87-75 cushion with a 10-0 run. Zach Edey's 3-pointer with 9:47 left made it 96-85, and back-to-back baskets by Ty Jerome pushed the lead to 101-89. Memphis outscored Portland 33-20 in the fourth quarter. Deni Avdija led the Blazers with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while Damian Lillard, one game after his game-sealing 3 against the Lakers, went 3 of 13 from the field, according to the AP.

The bigger worry in Portland is Ja Morant. Playing the franchise he spent his first seven seasons with, Morant had 14 points and three assists in 23 minutes before leaving in the fourth quarter with a left hamstring injury, ESPN reported. He was ruled out for the rest of the night. Blazers coach Micah Nori said Morant felt a twinge and that he hoped to know more Friday. "I'm hoping that it's nothing major, obviously," Nori said.

Portland, which had started 3-0, plays at Utah on Saturday. Memphis takes its unbeaten record to Sacramento the same night.
