Brewers' Jackson Chourio Ties Babe Ruth's 1928 Mark for Most Hits Through Four World Series Games
By The Arena Staff
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Oct. 28, 2026 — For 98 years, one name sat alone atop this corner of the World Series record book. Now there are two: Babe Ruth and Jackson Chourio.
The Brewers' 22-year-old outfielder lined a two-out double off Rays reliever Ian Seymour in the top of the 12th inning of Game 4 on Tuesday night. It was his 10th hit of the Series, tying Ruth for the most by any player through the first four games of a Fall Classic. "Chourio's 10th hit this #WorldSeries ties Babe Ruth (1928) for most through the first four games of a Fall Classic," MLB said on its official X account.
Ruth set the mark in 1928, when the Yankees swept the Cardinals in four games. In all the World Series played since, nobody had matched it until Tuesday, Sporting News noted.
The double also gave Chourio a second piece of history. It was his 31st career postseason hit, the most by any player before turning 23. That moved him past Hall of Famer Andruw Jones, who had 30. Chourio got there in 24 games; Jones needed 45, according to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, as cited by Yahoo Sports and Sporting News.
Chourio went 2-for-6 in the game. He came in hitting .286 this postseason with two home runs, nine RBIs and three stolen bases, Yahoo Sports reported.
The record night did not come with a win. Milwaukee took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 12th on a Cooper Pratt solo home run, but the Rays tied it, loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom half and won 4-3 on pinch-hitter Ben Williamson's walk-off single. That kept Tampa Bay alive and cut Milwaukee's series lead to 3-1.
So the chase moved to Wednesday night. Game 5 began at 8 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field, with Jacob Misiorowski starting for the Brewers and Drew Rasmussen, on three days' rest, for the Rays. Chourio will try to keep his hitting streak going, and one more Milwaukee win would bring the franchise its first World Series title. A Rays win would send the Series to Game 6.
