Ravens Finalizing Trade for Jacoby Brissett After Losing Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley

The Arena share card for the Ravens' trade for quarterback Jacoby Brissett

By The Arena Staff

BALTIMORE, Nov. 4, 2026 — On Monday, Jacoby Brissett was the third quarterback in Arizona. By Wednesday he was on his way to becoming the answer to Baltimore's biggest problem.

The Ravens are finalizing a trade with the Cardinals for the 33-year-old veteran, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday. The deal is not expected to be completed until this weekend, when Arizona's compensation will be set, so Brissett won't be in uniform for Thursday night's game against Jacksonville. Neither team has announced it, and Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur declined to confirm anything. "Out of respect for the process, I'll let the process play out with that," he said.

The need in Baltimore could not be plainer. Lamar Jackson, back for the first time in a month, injured the thumb on his throwing hand on the Ravens' first play from scrimmage Sunday at Buffalo. USA Today reported he will have surgery and may not play again this season. Tyler Huntley came on in relief, hurt his toe and has since been ruled out for the year. Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano finished a 36-10 loss that dropped Baltimore to 4-4 and last in the AFC North.

Fagnano will make his first NFL start Thursday at M&T Bank Stadium against a Jaguars defense that has allowed the second-fewest points per game in the league. Behind him are Kedon Slovis, signed off Green Bay's practice squad this week, and Austin Reed, added to the practice squad. None of the three had started a regular-season NFL game before this week.

Once the trade clears and he passes a physical, Brissett is expected to start in Week 10 on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to NFL.com.

He brings experience Baltimore simply does not have on the roster. Brissett has 73 career starts, including the first eight for Arizona this season, when he threw for 1,719 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. LaFleur benched him for Gardner Minshew II during Sunday's 33-30 comeback win at Dallas and then named rookie Carson Beck the backup. Last season Brissett threw for 3,366 yards and 23 touchdowns in 12 starts, per the Ravens' website.

The record is the catch. Brissett is 23-50 as a starter, and Baltimore will be his seventh franchise. But he will reunite with Ravens quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfolk, who worked with him in Arizona last season and in Cleveland in 2022. He is also not the runner Jackson and Huntley are, which USA Today noted will likely force rookie offensive coordinator Declan Doyle to rework his game plans.

For one more game, though, it's Fagnano's turn.
