By The Arena Staff
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3, 2026 — The matchup was billed as Luka Doncic against Giannis Antetokounmpo. By halftime it was mostly Doncic. The Lakers star scored 42 points with 13 assists and seven rebounds on Monday night as Los Angeles beat the Miami Heat 138-117, one night after he put up 45 against Toronto.
It was Doncic's fifth straight game with at least 37 points and his fourth 40-point game in five, a stretch in which he is averaging 43.4 points, according to The Associated Press. Before Monday, he had scored 45, 37, 41 and 52 in his previous four games, the Los Angeles Times reported. The NBA said on X that he now has 19 games with at least 40 points, 10 assists and five 3-pointers, the most in league history.
He shot 14 of 24 from the field and 6 of 15 from 3-point range, per the Times. He had 16 points in the first quarter and 24 by halftime, then hit a 3 in the third quarter, off a Jake LaRavia offensive rebound, that pushed the lead to 93-74 and forced a Miami timeout.
"Feels good," Doncic said. "Like I said, obviously when we win, it feels way better. And that's the only important stuff."
He had help. Austin Reaves scored 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting, and Walker Kessler had 15 points and 15 rebounds for his third straight double-double, the Times reported. The Lakers shot 57% and finished with 39 assists on 51 baskets. Coach JJ Redick said that was the most assists the team has had since he took over.
Antetokounmpo finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for Miami but also committed seven turnovers against a defense that kept sending extra bodies at him. "He's a freak of nature, man," Lakers forward Ziaire Williams said. "It takes three, four guys loading up to him."
The Lakers improved to 6-2. The Heat fell to 2-5. Los Angeles plays at Sacramento on Wednesday.
