Commanders Score 27 Straight to Beat Eagles as Jayden Daniels Wins a Start for the First Time in 13 Months
By The Arena Staff
LANDOVER, Md., Nov. 1, 2026 — Jayden Daniels did not like what he saw in the first quarter, and he said so.
"Honestly, it was complete B.S. the way we started," the Washington quarterback said after the Commanders, down 10-0 early, scored the last 27 points to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday Night Football.
It was Daniels' first win as a starter since Oct. 5, 2025, when Washington beat the Los Angeles Chargers. He had gone 0-7-1 in the eight starts since while working through a string of injuries, USA Today noted. "It probably felt like it was longer," Daniels said, according to the team's website. "But it's always good to get back in the win column."
The night started badly. Washington committed four penalties in its first nine plays, rookie kicker Drew Stevens missed a 55-yard try on the opening drive, and a hard hit by Andrew Mukuba knocked the ball loose from tight end Chig Okonkwo to set up Saquon Barkley's 3-yard touchdown run. That made it 10-0.
From there it was all Washington. Stevens made a 56-yarder to get the Commanders on the board, and Daniels led an 89-yard drive that ended with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs. Stevens added field goals of 39, 25 and 42 yards, the 25-yarder set up by a 53-yard strike from Daniels to Treylon Burks. Daniels finished 16 of 29 for 217 yards and a touchdown and ran for 23 more.
Philadelphia had a chance to pull within three with about nine minutes left, but an illegal-formation penalty on Jordan Mailata wiped out a made 36-yard field goal, and Jake Elliott's 41-yard retry hit the left upright. Facing fourth-and-25 late, Tanner McKee was intercepted by Rasul Douglas, a former Eagle, and Rachaad White scored from a yard out. Austin Ekeler added the 2-point conversion.
Washington's defense, missing Javon Kinlaw and Daron Payne, sacked McKee five times, according to Commanders.com, including a strip-sack by Dorrance Armstrong. McKee finished 23 of 34 for 212 yards with the interception. Barkley, playing through a back injury, ran 13 times for 30 yards.
Washington is 2-4-1 and two games behind the first-place New York Giants in the NFC East. The Eagles, without Jalen Hurts for the season, have lost six straight and are 2-6.
