Canucks Rally From Three Goals Down in the Third, Beat Ducks 6-5 in OT to Snap 10-Game Skid

The Arena share card with a scoreboard reading Vancouver 6, Anaheim 5, final in overtime

ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 28, 2026 — With 7:37 left in regulation Tuesday night, the Vancouver Canucks trailed the Anaheim Ducks 5-2 and had not won in 10 games. They did not lose again.

Vancouver scored the last four goals and won 6-5 when Filip Hronek buried a one-timer on a 5-on-3 power play with 11 seconds left in overtime at Honda Center. The win ended a 10-game skid in which the Canucks went 0-9-1.

"When you string together as many losses as we have, it bleeds into the room and the morale takes a hit," Canucks coach Manny Malhotra said, according to NHL.com. "Not just getting a win, but a big come-from-behind win in the third (period), is obviously something we can build off of."

The comeback started fast. A.J. Greer's second goal of the night gave Anaheim its three-goal lead at 12:23 of the third, and Jamie Oleksiak answered 31 seconds later with a slap shot from above the hash marks to make it 5-3.

Then Vancouver pulled goalie Leevi Merilainen for an extra skater, and Jonathan Lekkerimaki took over. He scored at 17:14 and again at 18:03, 49 seconds apart, the second on a shot through a screen from above the left circle. "He's elite in terms of his ability to get it off and pick corners," Malhotra said.

"You get a goal like that and all of a sudden, you get a little buzz," Ducks coach Joel Quenneville said of the tying goal. He called it "a terrible loss," adding, "5-2 and we're in a pretty good spot." Ducks captain Mikael Granlund was shorter: "That can't happen."

The game was strange long before the rally. Each team's first goal went in off an opponent. Anaheim's opener came when Greer's centering pass hit Hronek's stick blade and slid into the Vancouver net, and the Canucks tied it in the second when Liam Ohgren's pass went off the skate of Ducks defenseman Tristan Luneau. Brock Boeser's goal early in the third bounced in off his chest after Alex Killorn tried to swat the puck away.

Anaheim had led 4-1 after two periods on goals from Greer, Jeff Malott, Beckett Sennecke and Leo Carlsson. Boeser finished with a goal and two assists, Elias Pettersson had two assists, and Merilainen made 18 saves. Lukas Dostal stopped 27 shots for the Ducks.

Vancouver is now 3-10-1, and Anaheim, which has lost six of seven, is 5-6-1. The Canucks visit San Jose on Thursday, and the Ducks host Buffalo the same night.
