Oklahoma turnpike tolls will rise about 6% on Jan. 5

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority board unanimously approved a systemwide increase that lifts the PikePass passenger rate to about 8 cents a mile. A full Turner Turnpike trip between Oklahoma City and Tulsa will go from $5.40 to $5.75.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 7) — Driving Oklahoma's turnpikes will cost a little more starting Jan. 5, after the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority board unanimously approved a systemwide toll increase on Thursday, KOCO reported.

The increase is built to raise total toll revenue by about 6%. For PikePass passenger vehicles, the average rate goes from roughly 7.4 cents a mile to 8 cents. Commercial PikePass rates rise from about 25.2 cents to 27.5 cents a mile, KOCO reported. The change applies to PlatePay drivers too.

A PikePass driver taking the full Turner Turnpike between Oklahoma City and Tulsa will pay $5.75, up from $5.40, agency spokesperson Lisa Shearer-Salim told Oklahoma Voice. She said PikePass rates will still be the ninth lowest in the nation.

The increase was scheduled in December 2024, when the board approved a 15% hike for 2025 and an inflation adjustment of about 6% every two years after that, the authority said. The money helps pay for ACCESS Oklahoma, the agency's 15-year, $9 billion turnpike expansion and repair program. "We anticipate coming back every two years to consider another 6% increase," said Mary Biswell, the authority's director of revenue assurance.

The board also approved the first toll increase on the 5-mile Gilcrease Expressway in west Tulsa. A full PikePass passenger trip there goes from $2.05 to $2.20 on the same date, the authority said.
