Curry Scores 41, Passes LeBron for Most 40-Point Games After 35 as Warriors Win in OT
By The Arena Staff
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 7, 2026 — Stephen Curry spent the first 90 seconds of overtime on the bench Saturday night, and he made no secret afterward that he wanted to be out there. Then he went back in and finished off the Orlando Magic.
Curry scored 41 points, 19 of them in the fourth quarter and overtime, and the Golden State Warriors beat the Magic 126-119 at Chase Center for their seventh straight win. It was the 16th 40-point game of his career since he turned 35, an NBA record that moves him past LeBron James, according to NBA.com and Bleacher Report.
He did it efficiently, even by his standards. Curry made 13 of 19 shots, 5 of 10 from 3-point range and all 10 of his free throws, and added six rebounds and six assists in about 36 minutes.
The Warriors should never have needed him that badly. They led by 14 in the first eight minutes and by 16 at halftime, but they gave Orlando 26 points off 19 turnovers, per NBC Sports Bay Area, and the Magic won the third quarter 37-20 to take a one-point lead into the fourth. "Our third quarter was just chaos," coach Steve Kerr said.
Curry answered by scoring Golden State's final 12 points of regulation. Orlando's Jamal Cain tied it at 110 with a tip-in to force overtime, and when the Warriors broke the huddle, Curry and Draymond Green were not on the floor. Curry told reporters afterward, in comments reported by BasketNews, that he is on "somewhat of a minute watch" and that their names were not on the board to start the extra period.
"Me and Draymond going to have a reaction to that because we're competitors and we want to be out there," he said, adding that the frustration was not doubt in the teammates who started. "That 90 seconds, they got us, you know, a lead, and, you know, me and Draymond got to take a quick break."
Orlando went back ahead 118-117 in overtime, and the Warriors closed on a 9-1 run. Curry put them ahead for good with 1:38 left. Yaxel Lendeborg scored 16 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, and Green had 13 assists.
"It's like a flow state," Curry said. "I think the clarity of exactly how to attack that particular defense tonight down the stretch was at an all-time high."
Franz Wagner had 30 points and 11 assists for Orlando, and Wendell Carter Jr. added 19 points and 11 rebounds. "They've got No. 30 on the other side," Cain said.
Golden State, which opened the season 0-3, is 7-3. Curry, 38, is averaging 31.3 points, according to Bleacher Report. "It never gets old," Green said. The Warriors play New Orleans on Monday.
