Two people are killed by a car and a man is shot after a fight at a Halloween gathering in southeast Oklahoma City
Police say a fight at a gathering in a mobile home community early Sunday led to gunfire, and then someone drove a car over two people, killing them. The man who was shot is expected to survive, and several people were detained.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 2) — Two people were killed when a car ran them over and a man was shot after a fight broke out at a Halloween gathering in southeast Oklahoma City early Sunday, police said.
Officers were called to a disturbance at about 1:15 a.m., followed quickly by a report of shots fired at a mobile home community near Southeast 57th Street and Foster Road, east of Eastern Avenue, The Oklahoman reported. Police described the scene as a party or "some kind of get-together," according to KOCO 5 News.
Officers found a man who had been shot multiple times. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that appear survivable. Police told The Oklahoman that the man also fired shots during the fight, making him both a victim and a shooter.
Nearby, officers found a red car that appeared to have struck two people, who died. "We know somebody got into the vehicle and ran them over," Master Sgt. Rob Robertson told The Oklahoman, adding that it was not yet clear whether it was intentional. Police also have not said whether the two people were hit by gunfire before the car struck them.
Investigators worked through the night and detained several people, but police had not confirmed any arrests, KFOR and KOCO reported. The names of the people involved and what started the fight have not been released.
