A parrot took over O'Hare check-in for hours. The janitor ended it.
No ticket. No passport. No chill. One parrot ran an airport line for hours.
Airports are stressful. Long lines, surprise bag fees, a gate change right after you sit down. Travelers in Chicago O'Hare's Terminal 5 had one more problem last week: a large green bird with a very bad attitude.
On Tuesday, Oct. 13, what witnesses believe was a parrot flew in through an open door and set up shop by the Air France check-in counter. Over the next several hours it swooped at the line, perched on people's heads, landed on carry-ons, and tried to nip anyone who reached for it. A worker who filmed the chaos told CBS Chicago that every time somebody tried to grab the bird or be nice to it, "the bird chose fight, not flight." The video went viral.
The standoff ended when an airport janitor scooped the bird up in her shirt, the MVP move of the week. Reports say she took it to a vet to get checked out and scanned for a microchip, since the feathered intruder may be someone's missing pet. The bird was missing all of the feathers around its neck, but it clearly wasn't missing any confidence.
To recap: it had no ticket, no passport, and skipped the whole line. It may be the most efficient traveler O'Hare has ever seen.
Clown verdict: 🤡🤡🤡🤡 out of 5. Chaotic, feathery, and the janitor deserves a raise.
