Beaufort Police Chased Two Runaway Piglets. The Charge Was "Fleeing and Squealing."
Officers nicknamed them the Bacon Bits, booked them for fleeing and squealing, and swore no ham was done.
BEAUFORT, S.C., Nov. 7, 2026 — Most foot pursuits end with handcuffs. This one ended with a pair of piglets and a department-wide commitment to bad pork puns.
Beaufort police officers were led on a hoof chase by two runaway piglets after a witness caught the pursuit on video, UPI reported. Explore Beaufort shared the clip, which shows the little suspects darting across streets and sidewalks while officers tried to keep up.
The department nicknamed the pair the "Bacon Bits" and said they were detained on charges of "fleeing and squealing." WTOC reported that officers safely captured both animals and returned them to their owner. The department also branded them "career cri-ham-inals."
And the final status update, from the people who wrote it: "No ham was done."
