Anthropic files publicly for an IPO that could be among the largest ever

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic, the maker of Claude, made its IPO paperwork public on Monday and plans to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker "ANT," the company said. The number of shares and the price range have not been set.

SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 26) — Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude chatbot, made its paperwork for an initial public offering public on Monday, setting up what AP said could be the biggest IPO of stock ever.

In its filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said it plans to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "ANT." Anthropic said the number of shares and the price range have not yet been determined, and Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are leading the offering, according to the company and CNBC.

Anthropic first filed confidentially with the SEC in June, which let regulators review its financials before they were released to the public, CNBC reported. The filing shows revenue of $16.29 billion in the first half of 2026, up from $1.16 billion a year earlier, according to CNBC. The company also reported a loss of $80.7 billion for the same six months, which it said largely reflected accounting charges tied to the rising value of its convertible notes, CNBC said.

The filing says Anthropic's founders, including chief executive Dario Amodei and president Daniela Amodei, will hold 50.1% of the voting power through an entity called Founder LLC, and the company warned that its governance structure "has no direct public company precedent," CNBC reported. It also listed its reliance on chips made in Taiwan as a risk to its business.

The news lifted chip stocks on Monday morning. Nvidia, Micron and Broadcom rose as the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 each gained about 0.4% in early trading, according to CNBC and Yahoo Finance. Investors are also waiting on earnings from Alphabet and Microsoft on Wednesday and a Federal Reserve rate decision the same day.
