A Deer Knocked Over a Customer, Then Crashed Through a Winston-Salem Laundromat Window

It hit a woman in the parking lot, leapt through the glass, climbed the machines and left the same way it came in.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Oct. 30, 2026 — Customers at a Winston-Salem laundromat got the full spin cycle Tuesday, and not from the machines.

Security cameras at The Wishy Washy Laundry on South Main Street caught a deer sprinting across the street and through the parking lot, where it ran into a woman who had just walked out with her laundry, WXII 12 reported. In the video, the collision appears to knock her into a car and send her basket flying.

The deer did not slow down. It leapt straight through the laundromat's front window, glass and all, and ran to the back of the business as people scrambled out of its way. The animal wandered around, climbed over the machines, then ran back to the front and jumped out through the same broken window, according to FOX8 WGHP.

"Nothing can prepare you for what happened at the Wishy Washy today," the business wrote when it posted the video. For the doubters in the comments, it added: "This is 100% legit. No AI. A freaking deer crashed through our laundromat today."

Owner Corey Pendergrass wasn't there when it happened. An employee called him, and he admitted he didn't believe her at first. "Like a deer coming through the business, what in the world?" he told WXII. "Who has to deal with this?"

He called it a one-in-a-million event and said nobody inside was hurt. The woman struck in the parking lot drove off shortly afterward, before anyone from the business could talk to her.

The cleanup was quicker than the chaos. A local glass company replaced the window within a couple of hours. "I only had to fix one window thankfully," Pendergrass said.
