SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 23, 2026 — When De'Anthony Melton buried a corner 3 with 3:47 left, the Golden State Warriors led by 12 and had every reason to think the night was over. They never made another field goal.

The Memphis Grizzlies scored the next 17 points, and Cameron Boozer, the No. 3 pick playing his second NBA game, put them ahead for good with 20 seconds left in a 111-108 win on Friday night, according to the AP and ESPN. Boozer finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds and six assists.

"Eight different things had to happen," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told ESPN. "If any one of those eight doesn't happen, I think we win. It was just an avalanche."

The slide started with Stephen Curry. He flew out too hard on a closeout and fouled Jaylen Wells on a made 3, a four-point play that gave Memphis a pulse, ESPN reported. Curry, Draymond Green, Yaxel Lendeborg and Brandin Podziemski then missed four straight shots over the next 80 seconds. Golden State missed nine shots in all after Melton's 3, the AP said.

Boozer took over from there. He bulled through Lendeborg and Melton on back-to-back trips and made all four free throws, and Ty Jerome, who came in as the NBA's leading scorer with 73 points through two games, hit a corner 3 after a loose-ball scramble with 1:24 left to pull Memphis within one, according to ESPN. Wells made a free throw with 54.7 seconds left to tie it.

After a Curry miss, Boozer drew the smaller Podziemski, drove, spun and dropped in a 9-foot floater for a 108-106 lead, ESPN reported.

Golden State never got a clean look to tie. Green was called for an illegal screen near midcourt on the next trip, and Kerr drew a technical foul arguing the call. Memphis made three free throws, including the technical, to finish the 17-0 run. ESPN Research said it was the second-longest fourth-quarter run by an opponent in Kerr's tenure, behind a 21-0 Houston run in 2018.

"Pretty much everything went wrong," Curry said. "There are losses. Then there are losses like tonight that sting a little bit more."

The Warriors, playing without injured wings Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody, had a quick turnaround at Phoenix on Saturday night. Curry said he "probably" would not play there, and Podziemski said he would sit with back soreness, according to ESPN.
